Recreational Boating

The outdoor recreation economy is a $22.2 billion industry and recreational boating comprises the largest portion of this economic powerhouse. Recreational boating means more than $4 billion (Hebert number) for our state. Whether it's stand-up paddleboards or superyachts (and everything in between), boats of all shapes and sizes either visit our state or are moored here permanently (238,000 recreational boats are registered in Washington state in 2014). Why, you ask? That's because we have the 1,427 boating businesses (providing employment for 15,438 marine trades men and women) to complement the world's most beautiful cruising grounds for our residents, anglers, and marine tourists.
