In Washington, transportation accounts for nearly half (47%) of the total greenhouse gas emissions, including emissions from cars, trucks, planes, and ships. Washington State Ferries (WSF) is committed to conducting our business in a safe, secure, and environmentally sustainable manner that protects employees, customers and the natural environment of the Puget Sound Region. The Safety Management System is a set of policies and procedures that covers safety, security and the environment. WSF employees protect the Puget Sound Environment while providing a sustainable transportation services for Washington state residents and visitors by following certain policies and procedures. Since the WSF is the largest ferry system in the United States, having a track record of environmentally friendly service, positions the WSF as a model transit system. |
