Alaska LT. Governor Byron Mallott to Keynote Opening Reception

When: October 10th, 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Where: The Aft Deck Room - Hotel Captain Cook, Anchorage, AK

RSVP TODAY - Space is Limited

This fall, the Alaska Chamber, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber’s Alaska Business Forum, Tacoma-Pierce Chamber of Commerce and the Washington Department of Commerce will be hosting a select delegation of business and government leaders from Alaska and the Puget Sound region for three days of meetings in Anchorage and Kenai, AK.

The intent of this summit is to examine the dynamic economic connections between Alaska and the Puget Sound and shared economic development opportunities shaping the future of this unique and important relationship.

Goals of the October trip will include:
  • Build relationships across sectors, opinions, and organizations.
  • Educate each other on the economic impact between the Puget Sound and Alaska.
  • Understand the social and community impact between the two regions.
  • Identify issues across sub-sectors to develop common policy positions and goals.
  • Connect elected officials and thought leaders on a vision for the future.

Key issues identified during the successful advanced trip last November have shaped the agenda for the more comprehensive summit in October 2016.  We will now focus on developing a common agenda for economic diversity and prosperity.

Topics include:
  • Modernization of the Fishing Fleet
  • Tourism and the Cruise Industry
  • Environment, Sustainability & Energy
  • Education & Workforce Development
  • Opening of the Arctic
  • Maritime Infrastructure
  • Academic Partnerships / R&D

According to the recently published
Ties That Bind report, our economic relationship in these sectors accounts for more than 113,000 jobs across the region – generating $6.2 billion in earnings.

It has been more than a decade since Puget Sound business leaders and elected officials have visited Alaska to reaffirm and build on this shared connection.  Thank you for joining us for this important initiative.
